Mirissa - A Pleasing Southern Seaside Town

A lively, yet low-key town, Mirissa offers a satisfying seaside stay. Here you may stroll some of the nicest stretches of beaches on the southern coast. There are many activities to keep you busy when you’re not relaxing on the beach. Take a surf lesson or let the waves toss you around on a body board. Spend the day out on a boat looking for blue and sperm whales. If you still have energy at the end of the day, join up with some of the young, independent travelers that gather for spontaneous night parties on the beach.

Favorite Things to Do in Mirissa:

Get an up close look at a blue whale on a whale watching tour. You have an excellent chance to spot one of these amazing animals just off the coast of Mirissa.

Go for a dip in the warm blue waters near Parrot Rock.

Dine on the delish slow-cooked pork at Zephyr, a unique timber-framed restaurant.

Sign up for a snorkeling safari with Blue Water Cruise.

Set sail on the Pearl, a picturesque catamaran equipped with snacks and drinks.

Mirissa History

This sleepy village dwells in the heart of tea county. Accessible by one of the most scenic train rides in the world, let alone Sri Lanka, it’s remote location and temperate climates make it ideal for tea plantations. According to Sri Lankan mythology, the villainous Ravana is thought to have imprisoned Sita in the Rawana Ella Cave, a location you may visit and explore today.
