General Sri Lanka Travel Tips:

We do not smoke in public.

We may be required through security checks at the airport, temples and certain places.

We give up our seats to elder monks and pregnant women.

We use water bidet /sprays instead of toilet paper. There are toilet rolls available at most hotels and some restaurants.

At the Temples:

What to wear: We dress appropriately when we go to temples. No sleeveless tops, shorts, caps, hats or head scarves. Pants, skirts and/or dresses should be below the knees.

We remove our footwear before going into temples or homes.

We do not take pictures with our backs facing the statues. Especially no selfies.
